I have been editing my life away the past couple of weeks! lol I don’t think many understand the process it takes when photographing. It’s not just taking a photo and handing it over to a client. It’s so much more! I think there has always been a process of editing even back in the dark room days. My dark room happens to be my computer, and my editing software. Although I try my best to get shots that will make life easier in the editing process, there is still editing to be done no matter how perfect the shot is. I make sure that each photo is touched by me, and put under a microscope before I let my client view them. I feel it’s important to also let my artistic side be representitive in the editing as well. Sometimes I want to add more color, brighten, add shading etc. because I want to tell a story. I feel that people choose me to take their portraits because they appreciate the work I put into my photography, and for those clients I want to give them the best I can. My style may not be everyone’s taste & that’s ok, but whoever you choose just remember that editing will most likly take place, and their technique is part of why you chose them.
So the next time you have professional photos taken, keep in mind that you are investing in much more than a snap of a camera. Enjoy!
Here are two examples that I worked on quickly today.
I didn’t want to use a client pic so I volunteered my daughter.
